The Brian Smith Charity

Brian Smith was a physics and math teacher and a mentor for hundreds of young people at Nelson High School in Burlington. He was dedicated to the emotional and physical development of all the students he worked with for so many years. He died unexpectedly shortly after his retirement in August of 2008. He was out doing his favorite sport with a good friend-riding his bike! A couple of years ago his family and friends wanted to commemorate his love of cycling and his dedication as a teacher by creating a scholarship fund known as the Smitty Award. Last year over $17,000.00 were raised. Deserving students receive $1,000.00 towards their education from this fund.
Wardco is honoured to be involved with this prestigious event and we look forward to many years as title sponsor.
